16x16 in. Original oil painting, on gallery wrapped canvas.
This painting is inspired by a deeply personal story passed down from my Grammy — a story of faith, courage, and the unshakable bond between a father and his child. When my brother Aaron was just two years old, he lost his sight due to a brain tumor. In the darkness, he had to rely on something beyond what he could see — the voice of our dad. My father would stand a short distance away, arms outstretched, and call to Aaron: “Jump.” And Aaron, blind but full of trust, would leap.
In this piece, I’ve captured that moment — a father catching his son midair in a field of wildflowers, backdropped by majestic mountains of Alaska and a radiant sun bursting over the peaks. The green truck, the winding path, the golden light — they all lead to that leap of faith.
But this painting speaks to more than just my family’s story. Trusting the Voice is about learning to trust the still, quiet voice of our Heavenly Father — even when we can’t see the way forward. It’s about taking that leap, knowing we’ll be caught in arms that never fail.
